Haggai comes to Kuching!

The month of October saw the successful completion of the first Haggai Institute, Alumni Association, Kuching National Seminar from 19th Oct -24th Oct 2009. The Haggai Institute was founded by John Edmund Haggai to train, equip and inspire leaders from developing countries for the work of evangelism . Upon their return from the Institute at Maui, Alumni are encouraged to pass on what they have learnt to other leaders in their respective countries.
The recent Haggai Leadership course was held here in Kuching and was headed by none other than our own Alice Gan and her fantastic team which comprised of alumni from all denominations and churches in Kuching. They spent a week in Santubong with a batch of 18 people who went through an eye opening and illuminating course set by the Haggai Institute in Maui.

The course covered the Biblical mandate for Evangelism, Disciplines of a leader, Stewardship, Communicating for Evangelism, Leadership in Evangelism, Goal setting and How to Evangelise to the community. Facilitators for the course were both National and International calibre speakers, some of whom also facilitate at the Haggai Institute at Maui.

Participants had a great time learning and sharing with one another. Out of a total of 18 participants 7 of them came from GNF !! The Seminar was also a tremendous opportunity to fellowship with Christian leaders from other churches and denominations. We trust that as they go forth, the Lord will continue to enlarge their hearts and passion for His people to know Him !

News From Kelvin!

These are some of the student events Kelvin in Russia has organised with his team.
Recently Kelvin wrote to tell us about what is happening at their recent outreach.. I will let his letter speak for itself !

Hey friends,I just really want to thank you guys for praying with us for Making New friends. Just last week i was asking how do we usher in a greater tangible and powerful presence of God into our meetings because we didn't want to just organise an event if God's presence is not there. That was our desire and focus which I shared with the team .

We had an amazing day! God's presence was so real in that place. There were many non-believers but the atmosphere of worship was so strong, it was just indescribable. We had about 70+ students last night. It was mainly for the new students that came to our university and i think about 90% were Malaysians.

We packed the hall and we had live worship by our band, and an offering message which Lily shared about how when we want to achieve something , we must have a giving spirit . And how God has multiplied things in her life when she learned how to give. She has never shared in public before and since Missions in Medan, she is doing amazingly. We had fun and games to connect with the new students so that they will mix more and get to know each other.

We gave away free t-shirts and an Ipod shuffle so the students were really blessed! It was really fun as we managed to gather all the new students from different hostels and they basically don't know each other before this, and after last night, we built new friendships and new bridges with them.

Our leader Dennis greeted the students and I shared about our vision as a fellowship and the great things God has been doing through us here in Volgo and a rough picture of what is yet to come to get them excited. I also shared how this 6 years can be fruitful when we open ourselves to God. I challenged them to live a life worth living, and the only life worth living is a live chasing after God. The response was good and many of them came up to me and said "Kelvin, we support u guys and want to be apart of what you are doing. So we have incorporated more of them into the cells and it will be good la. Wow,we serve an Almighty God.We want to thank you guys again for being such a great support to us. Indeed, the best is yet to come!

Kelvin Yii - Mission V !

The Lord's commision is to take the gospel into all the world and share it with the people who have yet to hear the good news. Often these people are full time ministers of God or adults who work in the Mission Field. Kelvin Yii however is a young student. He grew up in GNF from Sunday school with a passion to serve the Lord and share His word. He chose to study medicine as he once said " it is a profession that will gain me access to anywhere God wants me to go to share His love with His people"
As a medical student in Russia Kelvin is very active in Student Outreach and he is one of the student leaders who is making an impact for Christ as he studies. Recently he and his team of committed young people volunteered to venture into Medan , Indonesia in Aug to adminsiter FREE health checks and medication. They were supported by various church organizations.

This young man is an encouragement to the rest of us that there simply is no " right time" or " right age " to share the gospel.. there are opportunities at every turn .. if only we are willing!

The Medical team spent their morning on health checks at various communities and at night they ministered a totally different kind of " medicine". They introduced the eternal Doctor Jesus! Many recieved Christ and many were miraculously healed. We look forward to hearing more from you Kelvin !
